Bling is this Girl's Best Friend!

Everyone that knows me well, knows that I love anything that shines, glitters, and or sparkles. So it’s only right that I highlight some of this season's best, curvy closet approved, sparkly items.
This season, sequins are a huge trend, and we all know that divas like to be noticed. So, take advantage of this fabulous opportunity. I know that I will!
I just “gotta have it!”

OOTD: Dorothy Perkins Color Block Dress

A few weeks ago I decided that I would test the waters with UK based, Dorothy Perkins. I was a bit nervous about ordering clothes online from the UK before ever fitting them. I wasn’t certain how the designs would look on my body and I didn’t want to deal with a long, overseas return process.  But the clothes were so appealing that I glanced at the site, at least once a day, for over a month before even making my first purchase. Fortunately, I mustered up the courage to take the plunge. I initially ordered four pieces, and I only received three because one was “out of stock.” Needless to say, I am very happy with the items that I did receive.  It took close to three weeks to arrive, and I did get a little antsy about the wait. However, after receiving them and fitting them, I realized that it was all worth it!

Today, I decided to wear my rust color block dress. This is actually my second time wearing it, but it didn’t have the time to post before. I love, love this dress and actually received a few compliments on my way to work today. It’s so comfy and can easily be dressed up or down. Due to the bipolar weather conditions that we are currently experiencing in New York City, I decided to pair my dress with a jersey cardigan and sandals. Tonight, I’ll be going to church, so I’ll add stockings and pumps.
I am now a HUGE fan of Dorothy Perkins, and I would recommend giving it a try, if you haven’t already. I will share the other items that I purchased at a later time. Just keep in mind, that when ordering from this site, you have to properly calculate the currency exchange rate, and give yourself enough time to receive your clothes.  You don’t want to become a nervous wreck like me.
So, what do you think about my outfit?

I also paired my dress with this necklace that everyone seems to love!

Curvy Closet Flip: Tika Sumpter Edition

I know that the summer is officially over, and we’re welcoming the cooler weather of the fall. However, one of my fellow curvy divas asked me to help her find an outfit for an upcoming vacation. I tried to think about what I would like to wear in flight, or when going out to dinner in a warm tropical location during the fall. I began my search, and then, like magic this flawless picture of Tika Sumpter at the BET Pre-Awards Dinner appeared. I love the freshness of white, and I love her tuxedo style shorts and blazer. Clearly, I don't follow the silly rule, which states, "no white after Labor Day."
For all you curvy divas out there who aren’t afraid of wearing shorts, and aren’t intimidated by the most unforgiving color, white – this outfit is for you! I love, love, love everything about this and may even purchase for myself.  I personally enjoy this look because of its modern, yet feminine take on menswear. Be sure to tell me what you think.

Curvy Divas, Don’t Let Your Big Feet Stop You!

I thank God every day that although, I’m well-endowed everywhere else, my feet are rather small. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t purchase any shoe that I wanted.
Needless to say, I know that there are curvy divas out there having issues finding fashionable shoes that fit their feet. If you find yourself in this predicament I would like to introduce you to this great website Barefoot Tess. Here they offer some of the latest trends up to a size 15 and the shoes come wide widths as well! Also, there are tons of cute boots, booties and pumps for you to see. Amazing! I took a look and picked out a few of my season favorites for you. Happy shopping divas!

OOTD: When in Doubt, Go with all Black and Pearls!

I know that it’s Tuesday, and I’ve been promising to post my Sunday outfit. Please forgive me, but it’s been a busy week.
On Sunday, I decided that I would go for a fun, 1920s inspired look. I love pearls, I love Chanel and I love everything about my retro look. I even pinned my hair up to add more drama to the outfit. What do you think?

Behind the Scenes of the Dominique Auxilly Photo Shoot with the Curvy Diva

Yesterday I shared that I would be participating in the Dominique Auxilly Curvy Queen photo shoot. This morning I went to the Bronx and met some of the most talented curvy models around. It was definitely a great experience and inspirational. Also, Dominique Auxilly is an EXTREMELY talented designer, and a delight to work with. The official look book and photos from today’s shoot will be released later this week. Until then, I decided to share a few shots from behind the scenes with you.

Curvy divas, be sure to visit http://dauxilly.com/ and check out some of the upcoming designs. I’m sure that you will enjoy them all. I’m already purchasing a few pieces for my birthday (October 7th). The designs of the dresses help to conceal a world of sins and accentuate curves in all the right places. I had the opportunity to model two pieces, one being a short, fun, color-blocked dress and the other a flirty, black, sheer gown...sexy! Take a look and tell me what you think.

I promise, there’s more to come.

Dominique Auxilly “Curvy Queen Model Photo Contest”

A few short weeks ago, I entered the Dominique Auxilly “Curvy Queen Model Photo Contest.” Although I didn’t officially win, (I came in second place) the designer has invited me to participate in her photo shoot tomorrow, for the upcoming curvy line!  I must say that I’m very excited, and I can’t wait. I’ll be sure to share some photos from the shoot with you all later. In the meantime, here’s the photo that helped me get in the door.

This photo was taken during an impromptu photo shoot that took place on my block, and I must say that the neighbors probably all thought that I was totally crazy. Either way, it was an overall great experience. Here’s a link to the photographer’s site. If you’re in the New York City area, and looking for a photographer, Jimmy Blue's your guy.
Wish me luck!!!

OOTD: Pink Leather Jacket and Jeans!

The fall is my favorite season for several reasons…one being leather jackets! In my opinion, there’s no season that compares to the FALL. I’m in love with boots, leather jackets, scarves, hats, cardigans and all the other trends that the season inspires. In all honesty, this season and my colleagues have inspired the launch of this new blog. So enjoy the read!

On to leather jackets…
The leather jacket is one of the season’s staple items, as it has the ability to give (almost) any outfit an edgy look. If you don’t already own one, I suggest purchasing sooner than later. It’s perfect for pairing with jeans and over dresses. However, I must say that finding the right leather jacket can be challenging for us curvy girls. So, I decided to help you burst into the season with style. I own quite a few leather jackets, and I really enjoy them all. Finding the right color, fit and style can be tricky but here are a few of my season picks.

Forever 21 Red Studded Leatherette Jacket

Avenue Ruffled Faux Leather Jacket

Jessica London Studded Leather Jacket

JCPenney Black Ruffle Front Leather Jacket

Jessica London Zip-trim Black Leather Jacket

Today, I decided to wear a leather jacket that I purchased earlier this year from Forever 21. The color is very girly (which I love) and I adore the beautiful design of the jackets inner-lining. The ruffles around the neck and zipper also add a nice touch. To add additional contrast to my pretty basic outfit, I rolled up the sleeves to showcase the lining's charming design. I paired my leather jacket with a pair of Michael Kors jeans from Macy’s and my gemmed black flats from Aldo Shoes (I love, love, love bling). I personally prefer darker colors for leather jackets, but I felt like being girly today. In only a few minutes I was fall Friday ready! What do you think?
